Steve Jobs “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” line was his advice for the students in a commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005. But Apple's "Think Different" advertising slogan might be the reason why he dropped out of college.
An Apple Ad remix that was never aired Steve Jobs narrated version of the iconic Think Different commercial "Here's to the Crazy Ones".
“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
Though many of the Apple ad campaigns were wildly successful, Jobs told Playboy Magazine [via HuffPost] in 1985, that ad campaigns were only necessary because of competition.
“IBM's ads are everywhere,” he said in the interview. “But good PR educates people; that's all it is. You can't con people in this business. The products speak for themselves."
"It's really hard to design products by focus groups,” Jobs told Businessweek in a 1998 interview. “A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them."
