A highpoint for millions of Hajj pilgrims

Colombo, October 2011

News reports here said that the first batch of Haj pilgrims arrived in Saudi. The flight carrying them reached the Haj terminal in Jeddah on Thursday, reports added.

Saudi Arabian Airlines has scheduled extra flights to carry them. In addition, Sri Lankan Airlines is to take the pilgrims on its regular flights.

Saudi government has increased the Sri Lanka's quota this year as compared to previous years, the country's ambassador in Saudi Arabia said.

Muslims constitute 7.5 per cent of the 20 million plus population of Sri Lanka. They live in amity and harmony with the rest of the people in the country

Well I just hope that they continue to live in peace and harmony unlike other countries where they try to implement Sharia law.
