SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Old Navy and Susan G. Komen for the Cure® announced a partnership to raise funding, help drive awareness and ultimately encourage consumers to take action in the fight against breast cancer. To support the cause, Old Navy will participate in a number of marketing and merchandising programs through 2012 and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of select products will benefit Susan G. Komen, an international non-profit whose promise is to save lives and end breast cancer.
Old Navy is kicking off this partnership with an exclusive collection of co-branded apparel to honor breast cancer awareness month – October. The iPromise™ collection conveys messages of “Hope, Fight, Cure” and is available for the entire family, including women’s, men’s, kids and baby. The collection features tees and hoodies in a variety of colors from pink and white to black and charcoal grey. Prices start at $19.94 for adult and $14.94 for kids & baby, and the line is available in stores and online now through the end of October. Five percent of the retail sales from this product will benefit Komen.
“We are honored to partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and take part in the fight against breast cancer – a cause that is very important to our customers and our brand,” said Michelle Wlazlo, SVP of Merchandising, Old Navy. “Now Old Navy customers can support this incredible cause and show their passion with Old Navy pride when they visit their local store.”
In addition to purchasing product from the iPromise™ line, customers can take action by visiting any Old Navy store from now through the end of October to make a cash donation to Komen. Old Navy is also sponsoring select Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® events around the country in 2011, with more slated for 2012. At the races, Old Navy volunteers dressed in iPromise™ gear will be handing out Old Navy’s iconic flip flops in various shades of pink to participants along with co-branded temporary tattoos.
“Susan G. Komen for the Cure is excited to partner with Old Navy this fall to offer this exclusive collection of tees and hoodies. This partnership will not only raise awareness, but will encourage women to make a promise to take action and get screened,” said Margo K. Lucero, vice president, business development and partnerships.
The collection will be available in-stores through the end of October with final donation amounts determined in November.
