Carmen Spindler slowly bends her arm as she pulls up a dumbbell. Your tense muscles are clearly visible. Then she lowers the bar again and start all over again - again and again. The 36-year-old from Alzey want to stay in shape for the upcoming competitions.
"But not too muscular," she says - and is thus in vogue. The stereotype of the muscle-bound female bodybuilders fact seems outdated. "Today the trend is away from a pure bodybuilding," says the chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate Bodybuilding and Fitness Association in Mainz, Alexander Thomessen.
"Your body should be feminine"Women should look for many athletic contests - and not muscled. "One expects this to more viewers," says Thomessen. So thinks the 65-pound woman Spindler, the routine continues to make their exercises. She pushes weights on a barbell. Then she lies down under the sports equipment and pushes it upward. The muscles on her arms begin to tremble slightly as she keeps the weight in the air.
