French woman Kidnapped in Kenya

A French woman was abducted by an armed gang in the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya.

The woman, believed to be disabled, was staying in a rented cottage Kitau Ras, near the island of Lamu.

Several witnesses claimed they heard gunshots coming from the other side of the coast when the victim took a motorboat.

So far, the Kenyan police has issued no comment of the event, which comes three weeks after a British couple was attacked in Kiwayu (further north of that country).

According to BBC correspondents, the latest kidnapping took place in a much less remote, so it could hurt the tourism industry of Lamu.
