Two persons lost their lives when a suicide bomber exploded his car in front of the bank where policemen were collecting their salaries. Another 60 persons were injured in this explosion in the troubled city of Kirkuk.
This occassion of picking salaries from the bank in Kirkuk has become a favourite target for the extremists. This is third time that they have attacked policemen when they had come to get their salaries.
Kirkuk is located 290km north of Baghdad and has for years been rife with tensions among ethnic Kurds, Sunni Arabs and Turkomen who all claim rights to the oil-rich land.
The extremists keep targetting the security forces for getting training from the US they term these security officials as the stooges of US. The transition period when US is planning to leave Iraq has seen an increase in the activities of these extremists which is a cause of headache for the rulers of Iraq as well as US.
