Reports reaching the New York State Leadership Council, advocates for undocumented immigrant students, revealed that Nadia Habib and her mother Nazmim are scheduled for deportation on September 29, 2011. Just three days away!

Precisely, this is in direct relation to denial of a motion to reopen a case which an incorrect decision was made by a judge regarding their petition to remain in the country some years ago. These two women have since been in relatively good standing in this country with no criminal record.

More importantly, Nadia is married to a US permanent resident and has three young US born children. She was brought to the US at the age of year old and is now 19. Besides, she graduated high school and is now attending college at the Stony Brook University in Brooklyn New York, majoring in psychology.

The New York State Leadership Council is urging all empathetic Americans and people around the world to call DHS – Janet Napolitano (202-282-8495) and ICE – John Morton (202.732.3000) to petition for this mother and daughter who are unfortunately being deported due to a judge’s faulty decision. Contact could also be made through info@nyslc.org for more information.

It is indeed pathetic being in a country for 18 years without any path to legalization.
