France beat Spain 16-15 (9-9) to take third place in the women's handball World Cup, a pre-season friendly tournament on Sunday in Aarhus (Denmark).
The latter match was extremely laborious for vice-champion of the world and tarnished a bit of a record generally satisfactory, with three wins against Norway (34-27), Romania (30-25) and Spain, and two defeats against Germany (20-26) and Russia (26-27).
"Certainly there's victory at the end but you could still do better. The players were not there, there were many mistakes on penalties," lamented Olivier Krumbholz, coach lights.
"I particularly note three good matches. The first two victories against Romania and Norway, and the match against Russia, where I enjoyed the players' behavior. We went through against Germany and now "he added.
There are four meetings in preparation for the Blue World, which runs from December 2 to 18 in Brazil: two qualifying matches for Euro 2012 on 19 and Oct. 23 against Turkey and Lithuania, and two matches at the tournament Paris-Ile de France, 26 and 27 November.
