Al Stefanelli," American Atheists’ Georgia State Director, makes a bizarre connection between radical Muslims and Christians. In speaking about “fundamentalist Christian and radical Islamic doctrines,“ Stefanelli says that both are ”dangerous, damaging and disingenuous.” Throughout the blog post, he continues to create ties between these two groups, but declines to truly define them

American Atheists, a non-profit that claims to protect the rights of atheists and to ensure the “absolute separation of government and religion,” always seems to find itself in the middle of controversy.

Aside from making this comparison, he goes on to write that “most of these people” (again referring to both fundamentalist Christians and Islamists) “lack the maturity and intelligence” to act in “a socially acceptable manner.” Many of these adherents, he believes, are “sociopaths,” “psychopaths” or simply “delusional.”

But the underbelly of fundamentalist Christianity and radical Islam does not operate in the legal system. They don’t respond to lawsuits, letters, amicus briefs or other grass-roots campaigns and they must, must, must be eradicated."

The above are four quotes from Billy Hallowell whose post in The Blaze called American Atheist Leader Calls for the ‘Eradication’ of ‘Fundamentalist Christians’ This speaks volumes of rage and hate as far as i am concerned similar to the people he is ranting against.

Okay so this Al Stefanelli perfect all knowing Atheist finds that Fundamentalist Christians and radical Islamists should be eradicated but he certainly has not fooled me. As far as I am concerned he is just a different version of the same song called "extremist ,bigoted and hate filled".

Why would he want to eradicate one who is different from he is. He sounds like the an Army Major in Hitler's Third Reich who wanted to eradicate anyone unlike them. That is how those bastards eliminated six million innocent Jews -the holacaust and wanted to create the perfect race having no tolerance for anyone who sounded, believed or look differently .

As Bush once said " "Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me" So Mr American Atheist leader you do not fool me one bit. You are just like the others, extremist fundamentalists or extremist Islamist you are a damned extremist atheist. No different no better.

Now according to Dale A. Robbins in his book “What People Ask About The Church,” he says "From the Christian perspective, fundamentalist has traditionally referred to any follower of Christ who believes that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and who believes in its literal interpretation and fundamental teachings. The fundamental Christian believes in the experience of the "new birth" which occurs when faith is placed in Christ as Savior and Lord. To the world this may be viewed as radical, but is very basic to the Christian faith."

Mr.Robbins also adds and perhaps rightly so that "In the broad sense, fundamentalism may be used to describe Christians who are uncompromising, conservative and who take their beliefs to the maximum — exactly how every believer should live. But because of recent, increased activism by those identified as fundamentalists, who have promoted unethical actions such as bringing violence against abortion clinics, doctors etc., some academic circles believe that fundamentalism has been redefined by our society. They believe that the philosophy of fundamentalism (at least in the world's eyes) has evolved into a legitimate form of extremism, with views too radical for the balanced, evangelical Christian. For this reason, fundamentalism may no longer be a term which accurately conveys what orthodox Christians really believe.

Now perhaps it is this last paragraph that has the atheist comparing the Fundamentalists with Islamic radicals .This seems very troubling to me that leader of the American Atheist group should compare Fundamentalist Christians with radical Islam. Call me naive but I have not heard of nor seen Fundamentalist Christians strap bombs on their bodies and murder over three thousand people in exchange for virgins. I also do not know of Sharia law nor Holy war in Christianity.

I guess this is my bias and I am sticking to it.

Maybe I have not read all of the bible but I was raised Christian and can remember and still hear whenever I go to church teachings of Jesus who says turn the other cheek, to love your enemy as yourself .I rather like 1 Thessalonians 5:15 which says "See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people."

What is so wrong in learning such values which was perhaps the original intent of Fundamentalism as described. Extremist behaviour and the zealousness of many fundamentalists in getting their bible doctrines out are less than desirable. For example to kill an abortion provider in cold blood, etc are reprehensible by any stretch of the imagination but to compare Fundamentalist Christians with radical Islam to me is more than ludicrous.

Now Atheism is simply described as a lack of belief in God, the opposite of theism which is described as a positive assertion that God does exist".

Basic Atheism is opposite to Christianity in that it asserts the following according to a post by Matt Slick of Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry

  1. There is no God or devil.
  2. There is no supernatural realm.
  3. Miracles cannot occur.
  4. There is no such thing as sin as a violation of God's will.
  5. Generally, the universe is materialistic and measurable.
  6. Man is material.
  7. Generally, evolution is considered a scientific fact.
  8. Ethics and morals are relative.

Good enough, they are opposing views which each side seeming to be part of a debating competition where both sides have strong opinions and opposing views while believing strongly their positions.

As far as I am concerned i believe God is real, a Higher supreme being, miracles take place everyday, giving birth is a miracle i see it when the seasons change, praying for the answer to a problem and out of the blue it appears is a miracle.

When my cousin got healed from stage four breast cancer with prayers after being sent to a hospice by Doctors to die is a miracle and twenty years later there is no trace of cancer. Yes there is extremist behaviours in Christianity but many folks that I know with the best values are of the christian faith.

Maybe being Atheist is more secular and easier to follow, less rules and boundaries. More freedoms to than freedoms froms i think. But who is happier who knows.

A Yahoo post says "The biggest similarity is that both have affirmations which are based upon insufficient proof.Christians cannot prove that God exists, and atheists cannot prove that God does not exist.

Yet both have their "truths", stated as fact, even without the evidence to back their stance up. So at their core, both rely upon a form of faith. Whether faith in a deity, or faith in their individual reasoning, it still comes down to a firm belief in an unknown."

I love this and choose to believe in God which is a God given freedom I have in a democratic society.

So are Americans now to fear the atheist too re radical perhaps terrorist behaviour implied in Mr Al Stefanelli use of the word eradicate and other volatile diatribe. This would be unfortunate especially as he is an American, talk about the enemy within.

Mr Stefanelli speaks to the ignorance and less intellectually adept Fundamentalists so what explains his ignorance of the US.Constitution particularly the 1st Amendment which is

" Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

The 1st Amendment in my humble opinion allows the fundamentalists to believe what they want just as it allows the atheists to believe in their religion which I call the i do not believe in God until I think I am about to die ,get sick, stub my toe or having great sex at which times "Oh God" is a phrase which automatically comes to mind and mouth.

Perhaps these Atheists are just bored with life or are rebelling against too much Sunday school as children when they could be playing outside.Psychology or some new age teachings suggests that the things we fear most or need to work on most, usually express themselves in our lives in many ways. Maybe a Christian dude stole Stefanelli's girl once upon a time or maybe he prayed to be loved and needed and was rejected so now he acts out in rage as perhaps deep within he feels God did not answer his prayer.Just kidding.

Wasn't America founded on some Christian principles Quakers and all and on the US Dollar bill I keep in my wallet for good luck it says in God we Trust. I guess these angry atheists are using some other currency because I think carrying around currency saying in God we Trust seems like a prayer point of faith.

Based on recent polling the Atheists maybe losing as a majority of Americans say they want a President who is strongly religeous and believes in God.MMMhhh are they all wrong.

Maybe the Christians are right it is end times, maybe there is really spiritual warfare against the church. Will the Atheists be dubbed the new anti -Christ?

Why can't everyone get along, who knows who is correct.

When push comes to shove we bleed the same way and when we die all our families mourn.September 11,2001 proved that. No one asked are you muslim, christian or atheist when the towers fell everyone just loved the other..

As Jesus said take the beam from your eyes before talking about the one in the other person's (i think I paraphrased it correctly).

Have a laugh here is something Atheists and Christians can enjoy, guess we have more in common than meets the eye religeous eyes.

The Christian Lady Next Door To The Atheist

There was a Christian lady who lived next door to an atheist. Every day, when the lady prayed, the atheist guy could hear her. He thought to himself, "She sure is crazy, praying all the time like that. Doesn't she know there isn't a God?" Many times while she was praying, he would go to her house and harass her, saying "Lady, why do you pray all the time? Don't you know there is no God?" But she kept on praying. One day, she ran out of groceries. As usual, she was praying to the Lord explaining her situation and thanking Him for what He was gonna do. As usual, the atheist heard her praying and thought to himself, "Humph! I'll fix her." He went to the grocery store, bought a whole bunch of groceries, took them to her house, dropped them off on the front porch, rang the door bell and then hid in the bushes to see what she would do. When she opened the door and saw the groceries, she began to praise the Lord with all her heart, jumping, singing and shouting everywhere! The atheist then jumped out of the bushes and told her, "You ol' crazy lady, God didn't buy you those groceries, I bought those groceries!" At hearing this, she broke out and started running down the street, shouting and praising the Lord. When he finally caught her, he asked what her problem was. She said, "I knew the Lord would provide me with some groceries, but I didn't know he was gonna make the devil pay for them!"
