WORLD's top ranked Englishman Nick Matthew along with three Egyptians Ramey Ashour, Karim Darwish and Amr Shabana were through to the semi finals in ROWE British Grand Prix Squash in Manchester on Friday. While Nick Matthew takes on number five seed Amr Shabana in the first semis, number two seed Ramey Ashour takes on number three seed and fellow countryman Karim Darwish in the second in all Egyptian affair. At the National Squash Centre all Glass court, Nick Matthew beat fellow Englishman and seventh seed Peter Barker 11-5,15-13,8-11,11-7 while fifth seed Shabana prevailed over Englishman Adrian Grant in three straight games 11-5,11-6,12-10. Karim Darwish, the number three seed brushed aside the challenge from fellow countryman Omae Mosaad in straight games 11-6,11-9,11-7 to move into the semis while Ramey Ashour, the number two seed Egyptian had to fight nearly an hour to overpower sixth seed Frenchman Gregory Gaultier in well contested three games 12-10,11-7,11-9 before moving into the last four.
