Sanghar:Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has called upon the UN and international community to come forward in a big way to help cope with the consequences of disastrous floods in Sindh. She was talking to representatives of foreign media at Sanghar in Sindh who were taken to several camps of the flood affected people on Friday. The Minister said local and foreign media has witnessed for itself the scale and magnitude of the destruction caused by floods and they should disseminate the information to help mobilize necessary resources to mitigate sufferings of the people. She said it was perhaps for the first time that over eight million people have been rendered homeless and standing crops over a vast area destroyed besides large-scale damage to houses and infrastructure. Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said the Federal and the Provincial Governments are doing their best but NGOs and the international community should extend a helping hand to address the situation.
