A radio station run by the Somalia Islamic movement al-Shabaab insurgent handed weapons as prizes to children who recited the Koran.

Four children shared a first prize of seven hundred dollars and an automatic rifle.

The second prize was a gun and the third, two grenades.

Al-Shabbaab said children should use one hand for education and the other to hold a gun and defend Islam.
