KARACHI: The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack in which SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam was targeted. The attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle, reportedly a Toyota Corolla, outside his residence in the Defence area of Karachi on Monday morning.

At least eight people including six policemen were killed while several others were injured in the blast. The intensity of the blast was so severe that windows of houses located two streets away were also destroyed and it has left a six feet crater. Chaudhry Aslam and his family are safe and have been shifted to a safe place.

Investigations into the attack are underway and police and other law enforcement agencies are gathering evidence from the scene.

Chaudhry Aslam, while talking to the media, said he was receiving threats from Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
