Death is no stranger to the Kennedy family---this time it is Kara Kennedy who has experienced her visitation by that angel.
Kara Kennedy, loved to exercise and at the young age of 51 she died just after her daily work out, at a health club in Washington, according to her brother Patrick. She was the oldest child of the late senator, Edward Kennedy.
Her brother, Patrick Kennedy, a former congressman from Rhode Island, said it was because, "Her heart gave out."
There is often something very special between a father and daughter, and Kara and her father were no exception. Kara was born in 1960 and so adored by her father, from the beginning, that he mentioned in his memoir, True Compass, "I had never seen a more beautiful baby, nor been more happier in my life."
She was born the oldest of three children during the presidential primaries in which her father was campaigning for his brother, John F. Kennedy.
"She's with dad," Patrick Kennedy said. Their father died in 2009 of a brain tumor, he was 77.
Kara too, had been in a battle with lung cancer herself, but in that fight she clearly won, but not without a struggle, as her father said in his memoir--she was given a grim diagnosis.
But during that struggle to beat the disease that hit many in her family, Kara became unable to participate completely in her love of working out--Patrick said the treatments "took quite a toll on her and weakened her physically."
Often Kara stayed by her father's side throughout his life. She and her brother Edward Kennedy Jr. helped run their father's U.S. Senate campaign in 1988.
Edward Kennedy was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009, Kara Kennedy accepted the award on behalf of her father.
Kara Kennedy leaves behind her husband Michael Allen and two teenagers, a son and daughter.
