As the battle for Col Moammar qaddafi's hometown continues there are some un-confirmed reports that NATO air strikes have killed 354 civilians during their bombing of Sirte. The NATO bombs hit the homes and hotel due to which these casualities occured.

The news was broken by the Reuters Tunis office, which recieved a satellite telephone call from the spokesman of Col Qaddafi. Col Qaddafi's spokesman, Mousa Ibrahim told the Reuters that "NATO attacked the city of Sirte last night with more than 30 rockets directed at the city's main hotel and the Tamin building, which consists of more than 90 residential flats. The result is more than 354 dead and 89 still missing and almost 700 injured in one night."

The news could not be confirmed from the Independent sources as no foreign correspondent is allowed inside the town of Sirte.

NATO has already faced severe criticism from human rights groups all over the world for their indiscriminate bombing of the civilian areas.

No official word about the latest bombing has come from NATO.
