The U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, made further statements to deter Palestinians from their intention to apply next week to the UN General Assembly the admission as a Member State.
Clinton said there was a growing recognition among the parties that the only real answer is to continue negotiations with Israel, which ran aground last year after 20 years have not yielded significant progress.
He said the disputes in the most sensitive issues as the delineation of the border security and competition would not be solved by its application for recognition as a state, in a press conference from San Francisco where he attended a meeting with Australian ministers.
U.S. has threatened to use its veto in the Security Council of the UN to prevent Palestinian request.
But Palestinian leaders could apply for recognition of Palestine as an observer with the right to vote, similar to the status of the Vatican, a recognition that does not require the consent of the Security Council.
