Dreher Dreher right or left - the direction of rotation has a particularly strong meaning for us, because we unconsciously follow the hands of the clock.
Admittedly, this study result from the laboratory of experimental psychologists may sound a little strange. But when Sasha Topolinski of the University of Wuerzburg and Peggy Sparenberg from the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig in the trial to its participants a turntable with candies to set before, they were able to predict exactly who has more desire to conventional tastes and who also sometimes enters an on exotic candies.
The scientists had created neither far-reaching flavor profiles of their subjects, nor do they possess any psychic abilities. Rather, they were able to predict based solely on the direction of rotation of the plate, whether the candy with sour cherry-flavored popcorn, or go away with more.
The unsuspecting participants had believed the experiment was long over and the candy just a small token for their participation. Interested in truth, the researchers but not for the list to be completed before carefully - they were just a decoy - but as to which five drops of the participants would choose from the turntable.
On offer were eight conventional flavors like apple, lemon or cherry, and eight more with exotic flavors such as popcorn, marshmallow and watermelon. To read the plate with the individual tastes, the participants had to first turn the wheel, however. But that was, depending on which experimental group had slipped into a test subject, only in one direction.
