Here we go again. It never ceases to amaze me how well-educated people in positions of authority screw up their lives as well as those of their victims.
Anthony Alvarez, a 40-year-old Former assistant principal at suburban Denver's Arvada High School was taken into custody after his wife allegedly found sexually explicate messages from a 15-year-old student on his Facebook account. Alvarez was booked on charges of sexual assault on a child while in a position of trust.
According to the Denver Post, Alvarez's wife caught her husband and the minor exchanging sexually explicate messages online, as well as talking suggestively on the telephone.
The 15-year-old victim allegedly claimed she and the former assistant teacher engaged in a sexual relationship between six and eight months. The arrest report also states the victim feels Alvarez "blackmailed" her. The victim stated in the arrest report that last month, Alvarez offered to give her a ride home. The arrest report states that instead of taking her to her residence, Alvarez forced the girl into performing oral sex on him.
As with all alleged sexual predators, Alvarez has denied any wrongdoing, and allegedly told police the girl came onto him.
If what the victim and Alvarez's wife claimed to have happened was true, I sincerely hope the judge in this case makes an example out of Anthony Alvarez. A 15-year-old is not mature enough to make intelligent decisions in regards to relationships, let alone sex. Not to mention, what could a 40-year-old possibly have in common with a 15-year-old kid? And if this did happen, congratulations on destroying two marriages, the marriage between husband and wife and the marriage of trust between school authority and student.
It should also be noted that MRS. Alvarez deserves praise for doing the right thing by confronting her husband and forcing him to turn himself into the police. Unfortunately, a large number of women do not show the courage and dignity MRS. Alvarez clearly has.
