Up to 20 other people were seriously injured in the accident

A man in a 35-year-old seriously injured in a fall from a climbing wall in Gothenburg on Monday night.


The man climbed a fifteen-meter high wall inside when something went wrong.

- The climber was conscious. We summoned an ambulance immediately. Both climbers and säkringsman have proper training.We have checked the equipment and wall and there are no errors there, says Ricardo Morales, plant manager at Klätterlabbet.

Paramedics were alerted at seven on Monday evening and the man was taken to Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The hospital's press office said that his condition is serious but stable.

According to Ricardo Morales, an incident report is sent to climb the League. The equipment and the wall should also be investigated further.

- We'll talk to everyone involved. I have protocols that I use to go through the equipment and the wall, he says.

Klätterlabbet is in the Chalmers campus and is used by both novice and experienced climbers. In connection with the accident closed the facility for the evening. On Tuesday, it is open as usual again.

The event was not reported to the police.
