The Bunawan local government and the Protected Areas and Wildlife Division of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources had set traps to catch a crocodile after residents reported incidents of crocodile attacks, and on Monday a ‘big one’ took the bait, GMA News said.

It was a 21-foot 600 kilos saltwater crocodile which, according to Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center, could be the largest catch this year.

The officials however, could not determine whether it was the same crocodile that attacked a young girl and a fisherman in the Agusan marsh last year.

The local government was building a big cage to house the crocodile until the Wildlife people find a safer place to become its permanent abode.
