Tens of thousands demand social justice

At least 400,000 people protested on Saturday night in downtown Tel Aviv and 15 other cities against "social injustice" and the high cost of living in Israel, according to Israeli media. The three TV channels have estimated that the number of demonstrators exceeded that recorded in the great movement of 6 August, when 300,000 people staged the largest protest of Israel's social history. The epicenter of the protest today was the State's Square in Tel Aviv, which brought together over 300 000 people, according to the TV. 100 000 other demonstrators were concentrated in several cities, including 30 000 in Jerusalem, before the residence of the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and other 30 000 in Haifa."They said that the movement was halted, but tonight we proved the opposite," said Itzik Shmul, a leader of the protest. "We, the new Israelis are determined to continue lutanto for a more just society and better, but we know that the road will be long and difficult."The protesters, mostly young lay people, shouted: "The people demand social justice."Stav Shafir, another leader of the movement, told AFP: "We will prove that this movement is not buried, that people are willing to take to the streets for social justice, for affordable housing, for education and public health. We must keep the pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu, we can not retreat .

The motion requires a state back to the welfare and denounces the past 20 years the public financing of homes popular in the country has almost disappeared, which shot the price of rents, especially in Tel Aviv.Netanyahu formed a committee to examine a series of reforms, but fears that the move is a ploy to gain time and empty protests
