Crime witnesses to digitally upload evidence to the NYPD

A measure instituted last week by the New York Police Department allows New Yorkers to participate in crime-fighting by uploading videos or photographic evidence directly to the NYPD. Said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, "Everybody has a camera in their telephones. When people can record an event taking place that helps us during an investigation, it's helpful."

The service can also be used to report misconduct of officers, as in the example of the circulating video of a police officer pushing a bicyclist in Times Square. The video has already attracted one million YouTube views and has raised valid concerns as to the abuse of brutality by law enforcement.
