Did your team make the top 10? ESPN has recently announced their power rankings for the 2011 season, a measure of the strength of a team in the league. Just to be clear, this is not the ranking of a team's win/loss record. These are the power rankings for the top ten NFL teams, as published by ESPN at ESPN.com. There are a few familiar powerhouse teams, and a few newcomers, as well as a surprise or two.
1. Green Bay Packers
Logically, hard to argue. But, the running game is still a question mark, and the offensive line has looked shaky in the preseason.
2. New England Patriots
A perennial preseason favorite, they find themselves in the top 3, as usual.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
With the acquisition of Asomugha, Jenkins, and Rodgers-Cromartie, the defense has a chance to be great. Ifcan hit his stride, the Eagles could be scary-good.
4. New Orleans Saints
A high powered offense led by the great Drew Brees, with a defense that knows how to get after the passer.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers
With Polamalu, Briggs, and Harrison leading the defense, Roethlisberger only needs to score a touchdown or two.
6. Atlanta Falcons
The Offense is probably the most balanced in the league, and with the addition of deep threat Julio Jones, the Falcons could be putting up big numbers.
7. New York Jets
Mark Sanchez keeps getting better every year, and you can count of's defense to be rock solid.
8. Indianapolis Colts
As it has been for the past 12 years, all of the Colts' fortunes ride with their quarterback, Peyton Manning. Will he be healthy? Hard to say at this point.
9. Baltimore Ravens
The old smash-mouth team always does well deep into the season. Ray Lewis and, as good as they are, only have a few good years left.
10. San Diego Chargers
A bit of a suprise, the Chargers get some due credit for their prolific passing attack led by QB Philip Rivers.
