By Peter Gill: The US dollar further beat rupee while the prices of other major currencies including euro, pound sterling and the Australian dollar also showed the same trend in open currencies marker here Thursday.
The rates of US dollar increased by 10 paisa on buying and 20 paisa on selling in the open markets here against the rupee and its trading closed at Rs 72.30 on buying and Rs 72.60 on selling.
Similar drive was seen in the rates of pound sterling versus rupee and its trading closed at Rs 142.40 on buying and Rs 142.70 on selling, registering an increase of 10 paisa.
Euro was also seen in the gainer's list versus rupee in the open currency markets and its trading finished at Rs 112.50 on buying and Rs 112.70 on selling, registering a surge of 20 paisa on buying and 10 paisa on selling.
Same movement has been observed in the prices of Australian dollar versus local currency in the in the open currency markets amidst fresh buying here on Thursday trading period and its trading closed at Rs 67.75 on buying and Rs 68.10 on selling.
Nominal surge was seen in the rates of Middle East Countries currencies including Saudi riyal, UAE dirham and Kuwaiti dinar against rupee.
Saudi riyal increased by 1 paisa on buying and 1 paisa on selling versus rupee in open markets and closed at Rs 19.13 on buying and Rs 19.18 on selling. UAE dirham also showed same drive and its trading closed at Rs 19.56 on buying and Rs 19.60 on selling. While the Kuwaiti dinar closed at Rs 269 on buying and Rs 269.50 on selling.
