The Sunday Times of Malta reported that Five women who formed a part of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's select unit of female bodyguards have claimed that they were raped and abused by the now ousted dictator and his sons.
According to the paper, the former bodyguards told a Benghazi-based psychologist they were raped and abused before being tossed aside once the men became 'bored' with them.
One of the women said that she was blackmailed into joining Gaddafi's female bodyguard unit after the regime fabricated a story that her brother was caught smuggling Narcotic drugs into Libya, and he would be Imprisoned or executed unless she agreed to join the brigade.
The psychologist, Seham Sergewa said the pattern emerged in the stories as follows:The women would be first raped by the dictator and then passed on to one of his sons and eventually to high-ranking officials for more abuse before eventually being let go.
The psychologist is also reportedly investigating claims of systematic rape said to have been committed by pro-Gaddafi soldiers during the conflict, Asian News International reported.
Since 1969, Gaddafi has had a firm grip on the leadership throne in Libya. Muammar Gadhafi has a total of 300-400 girls on his security detail. According to the official story, all of them are virgins. Selection is done by Gaddafi himself. Each of them can handle several strong men. According to some sources, most of the girls are Cuban.
