The following warped tale is one of extreme jealousy and misinformation that resulted in four women being charged for disfiguring a former pageant queen!
In the 2008 assault, Shanice Wilson, the former city of Banning Peach Queen and varsity cheerleader was ambushed by four women, as one yelled “remember me when you look in the mirror." The next thing Shanice knew was that she would be slashed across the face and back with a carpet cutter as wielded by one of the attackers who believed her husband had flirted with her back in 2005 and there could’ve been more that took place between Wilson and her husband!
The attack allegedly began when Erica Michele Bastidas, 24, began screaming at Wilson, her neighbor, then dragged her into the street.
Soon Bastidas' friends had joined in on the attack, and all three women held Wilson down as a fourth woman, Azia Aldred, yelled, "remember me when you look in the mirror," then proceeded to slash Wilson across the face, head and back with a carpet cutter, that required plastic surgery.
The attack was brutal and unprovoked, with the four women fleeing the scene and leaving Wilson to bleed alone in the street.
All four women have pleaded guilty to the attack and have been sentenced for their crime, with 27-year-old Azia Aldred getting 12 years for felony mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, twenty-four-year-old Erica Bastidas getting seven years and 30-year-old Labrea Steward and 21-year-old Ariana Atkins getting six years each for felony assault causing great bodily injury.
What totally baffles me is that these women actually thought that they could get away with it. The crime had obviously been premeditated and fomenting for over three years as they collaborated against their victim, which begs the question, have people taken leave of their senses?
