Warangal, Aug.23 : There was an attempt to rob a bank in the city during the wee hours of today.
According to police, robbers broke in to the State Bank of Hyderabad at the under bridge centre, around 0330 hours. They also gained entry into the strong room by breaking the locks. Siren started blowing when they tried to break the locks in the strong room. As the alarm bells started ringing, the miscreants ran away, police said.
Warangal DSP Mr. Jogaiah visited the bank and examined the CC cameras. He said CC cameras have recorded the movements of two persons trying to break the strong room locks with iron rods. He said a police patrol team heard the siren and rushed to the bank. The thieves have, however, escaped before the police arrived at the scene, said the DSP. Rs. 18 lakhs cash and jewelry of customers was safe, bank authorities have said.
