Parents of children at Vassenden school will not accept that pupils must have swimming instruction in Jølstravatnet.
The background is a great proposal because of its narrow local economy.
- Too cold- As a parent I think that it is too cold in Jølstravatnet that it can replace the normal teaching in a heated pool, says Eric Hjelmbrekke.
He is the father of a student in second grade at Vassenden school.
Instead of busse pupils from Vassenden for swimming in Skei, suggests the school to let pupils swimming in Jølstravatnet from May to October.
Hjelmbrekke places and questioned how much the municipality saves on such a proposal.
- The one saving the shuttle will soon be used up in that one must buy new equipment to have at Jølstravatnet, says Hjelmbrekke.
Not informedHjelmbrekke says to NRK that he first became familiar with the case through the media, and that he has not received any information from the school.
- Some might think it's fun, while others will KVI in a bath, and thus may be a splitting of the class, says her father.
He points out that for students with asthma, it would be unpleasant to swim in such cold water.
- Sporty's proposalHead of education, culture and health in Jølster municipality, Arve Dvergsdal said the proposal came from the school administration.
- They believe the students will get a better swimming lessons by having it in Jølstravatnet, than to convey pupils to Skei, says Dvergsdal.
