Women's rights, personal choice targeted by Republican Tea Party Conservatives
In the United States, conservatives who took control of the 112th Congress are proposing new legislation that would create more government control over what a woman does with her body.
New legislation has been introduced in Congress that attempts to control abortion through funding cuts, medical record reporting, and doctors who perform abortions.
Many people have deep religious beliefs regarding the sanctity of life, however, government regulation of a woman's right to have children suggests an excessive level of control over personal freedom. It also raises questions as to whether or not the government should have the right to come between a woman and her doctor on personal, physical choices.
While proposing more regulation against women's rights, Republican Tea Party conservatives plan to remove regulations from public safety, clean drinking water, clean air, worker's rights, and the Environmental Protection Agency, according to the New York Times.
