Camera catches Pizza Hut manager peeing in kitchen sink (Video)

Even as fast-food workers around the country are demanding and clamoring for, marching for, and actually striking for higher pay and better working conditions, now comes word (and video) of a district manager of several Pizza Hut restaurants caught peeing in a sink where dishes and utensils are washed.

The incident occurred on Jan. 29, and the surveillance camera shows the unnamed manager standing before a computer and then quite nonchalantly walking over to the metal sink. He is clearly seen unzipping his fly, leaning over and then urinating directly into the sink.

After relieving himself, the man turns on the faucet — not to wash his hands, but presumably to “flush” his just released urine down the drain. (The video does not show whether any dishes were in the sink. Let's hope not.)

Pizza Hut's national headquarters learned of the video last Tuesday and moved quickly. It immediately relieved the man of all five other West Virginia Pizza Hut restaurants that he "managed." (Let's also hope that he was not using those kitchens as a bathroom as well).

The Mingo County Health Department went a step further, though. It ordered this particular restaurant in Kermit, (85 miles southwest of Charleston), to shut down all operations forthwith.

Pizza Hut issued the following statement:

"First of all, we are embarrassed by the actions of this individual. Pizza Hut has zero tolerance for violations of our operating standards, and the local owner of the restaurant took immediate action and terminated the employee involved.

"While the isolated incident occurred during non-business hours and did not involve any food tampering, we follow strict safety and handling procedures and the restaurant has since been closed. We apologize to our customers of Kermit, West Virginia, and those in our system who have been let down by this situation."

Opinion

It's not like West Virginia does not have enough problems already, you know.

Recall that it was just a few weeks ago when a huge chemical spill into the river that Charleston uses for its drinking water was revealed. That spill had (and still has) 300,000 people seeing and smelling a yellow tint to their water. Hmmm.

As far as this equally bizarre Pizza Hut incident is concerned, is there any doubt that this “gentleman” may have been using the kitchen sink as his personal toilet on a regular basis?

From an historical point of view, slaves often would urinate and spit into (and even poison) their white masters' food before serving them. Somehow, though, I do not think this Pizza Hut guy's obnoxious action here is a political act. If so, his protest is misdirected and misguided — taking his frustrations out on the very people who make his job possible.

No. This is just a lazy, unclean and uncaring district manager of a major fast-food chain who should never again be allowed near anybody's kitchen.
