Mary Kennedy, estranged wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., found dead at her home
Mary Kennedy, who was married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., for 16 years, was found dead today of an apparent suicide.
The body of Mary Kennedy, 52, was discovered at her home in Bedford, New York, in the early afternoon. Mary Kennedy's cause of death is being attributed to hanging.
Mary Kennedy was the mother of four children during her marriage to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The couple filed for divorce in 2010, and shortly afterward, Mary Kennedy had a run in with the law for drunk driving.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the son of the former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, and nephew of President John F. Kennedy, who were both assassinated in the 1960's.
Mary Kennedy was the second wife of Robert Kennedy Jr., who divorced his first wife, Emily Ruth Black in 1994.
In an official statement by the Kennedy family, Mary was called inspirational, kind, and loving.
"Mary was a genius at friendship, a tremendously gifted architect and a pioneer and relentless advocate of green design who enhanced her cutting edge, energy efficient creations with exquisite taste and style," according to official remarks.
