Texas Gun group adds to the fray: offers $10,000 for Zimmerman's legal defense

Yet another controversial angle has been added to the Trayvon Martin tragedy. Lawyers for a Texas gun group called The National Association for Legal Gun Defense has reportedly offered $10,000 for Trayvon's killer, George Zimmerman's defense.

According to orlandosentinel.com, Attorney Blue Rannefeld, speaking for the Fort Worth, Texas-based group on Friday said they were trying to contact Zimmerman's lawyer Craig Sonner to offer their legal assistence. So far, they have been unsuccessful.

The NALGD supposedly defends gun owners invloved in self-defense cases.

Other pro-guns groups have also offered to assist in Zimmerman's legal defense, though no charges have been filed and the shooter hasn't even been arrested. A grand jury is scheduled for April 10.

Groups like Legalboom.org are asking for donations to help in the self-appointed neighborhood watchman's defense, even though carrying a gun on a vounteer neighborhood watch is legally prohibited.

Meanwhile, the Black Panthers bounty on the 28-year old shooter of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, has allegedly risen to $12,000. Speaking on CNN last Wednesday, a member of that group said they were getting donations from athletes and celebrities and were willing to raise the bounty to $1 million.
