'On The Road' trailer premiere delayed for technical issues

The highly anticipated movie trailer for On The Road is having a little problem being uploaded. The movie, which stars Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst, Tom Sturridge and Viggo Mortensen is based on Jack Kerouac's beloved novel of the same name.

It was announced earlier this week that the film's trailer would finally be released online after a long wait but on Friday, the day of its release, the On The Road Facebook group posted they were having technical issues getting the movie trailer online.

This morning the On The Road Facebook group released their first statement about the delay, "Dear all, for technical reasons, we will be able to give you access to the trailer only in a few minutes. Stay connected, the problem is being solved currently. Thank you for your understanding and support."

Around 11:00 a.m. the group came back to address more issues, "The technical issue we are facing is unfortunately more important that we thought. It may take some time before it is actually solved. We know your expectations are high and will keep you posted in the coming hours. Thank you for your patience."

A little after 11a.m. they commented that the problem is with the file, "We would like to let you know the problem has nothing to do with the uploading of the video but with the file itself. We are fixing it. Thank you."

As of 12:50 p.m. central time the problem had not been resolved. Although, bloggers are already posting .gifs of images from the trailer including Kristen Stewart.

On The Road has been in the works since 1957. In the 50's Jack Kerouac suggested to Marlon Brando that he should play the character of Dean Moriarity and Kerouac himself would play the part of Sal Paradise. The project never saw the light of day.

Francis Ford Coppola tried to revive the idea of a film in 1979 when he bought the rights to the movie deal. The 70's project also fell through. Years later, Coppola approached Ethan Hawke and Brad Pitt to play the roles of Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty. The Pitt and Hawke project fell apart soon after. He tried again in 2001 to get the project written and have Billy Crudup to play Sal and Colin Farrell as Dean.

On The Road was rumored to be playing at film festivals in 2012. The film does not have an official release date in America but it is supposed to premiere later in 2012.
