Emma Watson joins the cast of Sofia Coppola's 'The Bling Ring'

Sofia Coppola announced that Emma Watson will star in her upcoming movie titled The Bling Ring. According to Screen Invasion, "The film is about a group of fashion-and-fame-obsessed teens who track celebrities' whereabouts online and then breaking into their homes and steal designer clothes and possessions. It is inspired by true events."

Coppola released the following statement about the project, "I am excited about the young cast we're assembling and I'm looking forward to shooting on location here in Los Angeles." Coppola wrote the film and will also produce and direct it.

The Bling Ring were a group of teenagers around Calabasas, California who burglarized many celebrity homes in and around Los Angeles. The burglaries happened between October 2008 to August 2009. They stole almost $3 million from Paris Hilton, most of it in cash and belongings. Hilton was robbed several times. Victims of The Bling Ring included Hilton, The Hills' Audrina Patridge, The OC's Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox and Lindsay Lohan.

Potential targets of The Bling Ring included Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus and Hilary Duff. The members of The Bling Ring included Diana Tamayo, Johnny Ajar, Alexis Neiers, Nick Prugo, Courtney Ames and Roy Lopez Jr. Neiers had her own E! reality TV show called Pretty Wild with her sisters.

The first film adaptation with the same title The Bling Ring aired on Lifetime in 2011. It is rumored that Coppola visited Paris Hilton's house during a party and took photos of the inside for film ideas.
